Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie calls for study into new Bass Strait catamaran

TASMANIAN Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie says Canberra should fund a feasibility study into a new Bass Strait passenger service between Burnie and Geelong now the proposal had won support on both sides of the water.

Ms Lambie said the Fast Cat proposal had garnered the support of Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons and Tasmanian ship-building representative Richard Lowrie and it was now time to investigate the idea seriously.

Existing ferry operator TT-Line is also not opposed to the prospect of a new passenger service being introduced.
